It's frosty in here.

I am taking advantage of this time off I have been given. I must say that I have loved everyday so far. There are so many projects around the house that I wasn't able to get to when I was working that I have been knocking off my list. This is one of those projects. We have this TV cabinet that has these glass inset doors. I like the doors but I don't like seeing all the DVDs and Cd's in the cabinet. I found a great way to handle that problem. I used a stencil template that I found online and a used a can of this Rustoleum Frosted Glass  to hide all the stuff without getting rid of the glass.

I had a bit of trouble getting the hang of making sure the stencil was placed correctly. The first time I tried was an epic fail so I had the great pleasure of scraping off all the frost.

(FYI: if something like this happens to you; save yourself some heartache and soak the glass in rubbing alcohol and the frost peels off. So much faster and easier.)

I really like the way it came out. Next time I spend more time prepping the piece before I spray.

If you look closely you can see that I got some of the spray paint on the wood. That's nothing that a little alcohol can't fix.

I've got Sole

Like many other women, I love pretty shoes. Anything with ruffles, feathers, spikes or sparkle will catch my eye. So I had these 2 pair of shoes that already had their fair share of sparkle but there is always room for more.

I started with these

This is what the soles looked like...boring.

Then I used these supplies...

to turn them into this

I love them. The possibilities are endless. I want to buy bright new shoes just so I can do this to them in a crazy contrast color.  This was a quick but more importantly cheap way to add a little sparkle. Now my shoes are cute coming and going!

What do you think?

Thank Goodness for Goodwill.

I found some goodies at Goodwill a couple months back that I want to share with you.

These guys were brass so they got a coat or two of white spray paint and they were ready to go.

I am in love with the details on the frames and I am contemplating whether to spray paint. One thing you will soon get to know about me is that I never met a can of spray paint I didn't like.

Sorry about the blurry pic
I wish I had at least 4-6 more of these little guys.

Sometimes Goodwill can be a bust but this trip was pure gold...or better yet Sterling Silver. I lucked up and snagged a Sterling Silver Tray for a whopping.....10 bucks!!

Please excuse my Chihuahuas fur....it is a never ending battle. :(

It was super tarnished but when I finally get it all cleaned up it will be perfection.

I still have plenty of polishing to do but the minute its all cleaned up I will post a fantastic after pic.

Do you have any great Goodwill finds in your home?

Weekend Recap

Hope everyone had a healthy happy weekend. I was a busy bee this weekend. We were able to get some things accomplished that have been on the household to-do list for a while now.

First, we tackled putting up a little barrier so you can't see our trash cans from the street.

No before pic, but you get the idea.

Then it was on to the front "porch". I use the word porch lightly because when I think about porches I see this.
However, I tend to make the best of what the Lord has given me so, I made some minor improvements.

I found these chairs over a year ago on sale at target. they have been sitting all alone ever since.

I picked up a cute little table from Ikea for $20 and added this gorgeous hydrangea plant. I still have a bit more work to do in this area (like clean get hubby to clean the concrete, put some cushions on the chairs and add more flowers.

I am going to go back to Loews for more of these; so pretty.

But the thing that ate up most of our Sunday afternoon was assembling this. Here is what the finished product looks like.

It should only take about one more year for the trees to grow high enough to block the view of our neighbors homes.

It's not the pergola I always wanted but the price was right and I can add a pergola later and use this in the yard.

BTW: When we went to Ikea they had the gazebo priced at $179. that $30 more that what they had it for online. We asked a manager about it and they matched the online price; no problem.

What did you do this weekend?

All that sparkles...

I have always been a fan of chandeliers. I love all types but I have an affinity towards the really sparkly crystal ones. Years ago I fell in love with this one at Zgallerie. The price tag was a bit much for me. I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with Zgallerie. I LOVE just about everything they sell but I HATE the prices. Well, I am not one to give up on my dreams. I was able to find a look-a-like here. If I purchased this online and didn't like it I would be stuck, (The company doesn't accept returns on this item. I hate that.) so that was out. I did however get an opportunity to go to NYC and see the chandy in person and lets just say it was under-whelming. It had no sparkle no pizazz.

With a heavy heart I left the not so dandy chandy behind and set out to make my own chandelier. I got lucky,on one of my many road trips between GA and NC I stopped in at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Gaffny SC and found the base of this Chandelier. It had no glass links but the rectangular shape of the base was just what I needed. I started ordering crystals online ASAP. I underestimated how many crystals it would take to fill this thing up (so I had to order more than once) but I ended up spending less than $150 on the whole thing.

Take a look:

I LOVE IT!! I want to add another layer of crystals just to make it a bit miore substantial but I think it looks pretty good just the way it is. What are your thoughts??
